Being an international student has its advantages in media studies. You get to talk about this whole gamut of issues on an international spectrum, and chances are, you'll meet a lecturer who is a. equally passionate (and/or curious) about said country, or b. not well-versed in the subject at hand, and have no choice but to take your word for it. Who wants to read yet another essay on Murdoch's rampage for global domination, or the inherently local-centric reporting of news? Give me China and Singapore and Europe and America any day. Poor Aussies; there actually is life outside of Oceania. :)

On another note, completely bogged down with a seemingly never-ending stream of assignments. Two over the holidays, another due tomorrow, 2 presentations on Monday, and a 3000-word thesis lit review following that. And after all that is finally done, it'll be just in time to get cracking on the second round of essays for the semester. Help!
